Art Squad / Ages 10-15 / Full Day
Experience art and nature through exploration of Laumeier's green space, woodland trails, outdoor sculptures, and creek.
This full-day art camp is designed for artists ages 10-15. Artists learn about contemporary and historical artists, interact with special guests, explore the woodland creek and trails, create unique works of art, and build friendships. Each session is structured around a specific set of materials and techniques to encourage exploration of interests through hands-on experiences. Artists are divided into different teams by age.
Ten-year-olds may register for Art Adventurers or Art Squad. Teen artists ages 13-15 may enroll in Art Squad and/or the Creative Workshop Series. Teen artists 16+ are welcome to inquire about Art Squad.
Art Squad meets Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Art Squad is based outdoors on the Carriage House deck and in the indoor studios of the Kranzberg Education Lab, with some time spent inside the Aronson Fine Arts Center.
Cost: $300 / one-week session.

NOW OFFERING BEFORE + AFTER CARE!
Before and after care offers flexibility for families with varied schedules. Our experienced before and after care staff provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for all artists who participate. Artists enrolled in full-day programs (Art Adventurers and Art Squad) are eligible to participate in both before and after care. Artists enrolled in half-day morning programs (Little Buds) are eligible to participate in before care. Space is limited.
Before and after care fees are one-time fees that cover the entire week of care. You may choose to enroll for before and/or after care. Your artist may attend one or all days of before and/or after care, however, the weekly fee cannot be prorated. In the case of early release due to a heat advisory, your artist may stay the full day if they are enrolled for after care. Your artist must be registered for before and/or after care before their session begins. Requests for withdrawal from before and/or after care must be made within three weeks of the start date of your artist’s session for a refund to be provided.
Before Care:
Time: 8-9 a.m.
Location: Moss Education Shelters
Fee: $100/week per artist*
Artists have the choice to free play and draw, explore our little library, or relax before their big day. Optional: Pack a breakfast/snack. Caregivers, please park in the West Entrance parking lot and walk your artists to the Moss Education Shelters for check-in. See the Family Handbook for more details.
After Care:
Time: 3-5:30 p.m.
Location: Aronson Fine Arts Center
Fee: $200/week per artist*
Artists have the opportunity to take a break in the air conditioning, play indoor and outdoor group games, engage in loose parts play, free draw, explore our little library, and occasionally watch short films. Please pack a snack.
Optional: Bring toys, electronics, books, etc. from home.
Caregivers, please park in the North Entrance parking lot and walk into the Aronson Fine Arts Center to check out your artists.
Caregivers are responsible for checking out artists from after care before 5:30 p.m. All caregivers checking out must be listed on the “Authorized Check-Out” list on the registration form. If you need to add an authorized check-out person, please email ftorres-guerrero@laumeier.org.

Weekly Themes
June 10 / Painting: Stencils & Street Art
Explore contemporary street artists, investigate the impact street art can have in our communities and then experiment with basic skills like lettering and stencil-making to create your own art and a collective mural.
June 17 / Drawing: Portraiture & Figure drawing
Experience life drawing to develop a better understanding of a wide range of human proportions and facial features, then create expressive portraits and design your own unique characters.
Note: We’ll be learning about and celebrating Juneteenth this session, with special guests and art projects.
June 24 / Drawing: Portraits & Places
Explore perspectives in drawing and experiment with different media and mark-making as you experience drawing figures and the space around them, from portraits with unique backgrounds to favorites characters in their entrancing worlds.
July 1 / Mixed Media: Collage, Printmaking & Fibers
Experiment using different kinds of dry and wet media to create captivating collages, colorful linocut prints, and stitched compositions as you consider unique themes and dynamic layouts. Note: No programming Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 due to the holiday. The Family Art Walk will take place on Wednesday, July 3. See the Family Handbook for more details. July 8 / Drawing: Anime & Illustration
Consider proportions, facial features, and stylistic flair as you design your own characters, then explore ways to craft stories and create your own merch using those unique characters.
July 15 / Painting: Watercolor Techniques & Experimentation
Explore and experiment with a variety of watercolor techniques, then use those approaches to individualize your creations as you paint landscapes, portraits, or make abstract compositions.
July 22 / Painting: Acrylic Techniques & Experimentation
Explore and experiment with a variety of acrylic techniques, then use those approaches to make individualized portraits, abstract works, or plein-air paintings according to your unique interests.
July 29 / Drawing: Illustrated Fanfiction
Explore the world of fanfic as you develop your drawing and storytelling skills to create illustrations inspired by your favorite manga, anime, gags, graphic novels, books, TV shows, and movies.
We proudly provide a safe and welcoming environment for all young artists. Our team includes staff with backgrounds in special education, art therapy, English language development, and more. When registering, please give details about your young artist's needs and we'll work with you to meet them.

EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY
In the case of an Excessive Heat Advisory, all summer programs will release early at 1:30pm for the safety of our young artists and staff. Families will be contacted regarding weather-related closures and early releases by Laumeier's Summer Buzz Newsletter, delivered via email.

EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Scholarships for Art Camps and Teen Programs are available through the Laumeier Sculpture Park Education Scholarship Fund. Assistance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed for all applicants. The application process is part of the online registration form. You do not need to supply any additional documents or information. THE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD IS CLOSED. For more information, please email our education team at education@laumeier.org.
